Unusual and special wax prints that get under your skin
The history of African wax prints is interesting. This printing technique originally comes from Indonesia. Employees of the Dutch East India Company discovered it there. And then there are several versions of the story: they took the fabrics back to Holland, where the technique was implemented using machines in order to sell them back in Indonesia, but on the way to Indonesia lies Africa, and there these colourful fabrics with large patterns were hugely popular, so that these fabrics were produced in Holland not for Indonesia, as originally planned, but for the African market. The wax print/batik technique is still used in Africa, for example in Tanzania.
In our online shop, you will mainly find Holland wax prints and, depending on availability, handmade wax prints from Tanzania, but in any case made from 100% cotton.
